Hermes: Tiny delta since the morning digest — no action taken: • Before the day gets rolling: calendar has Replace air filter at 8:00, and the two items you just added for today are refill pill container + put basement-fridge shelves back. • If you want a clean landing strip: bundle those as one 10-minute home reset before/around camp dropoff, then keep the rest of the day pointed at Carolyn 10 AM + one focused admin/prep block.

Clay: [clay (he/him)] The email watch job cron job is failing because oauth is out of date
Hermes: Yep — I confirmed it. - setup.py --check returns: TOKEN_REVOKED ... invalid_grant: Token has been expired or revoked - The Google client secret is still present at ~/.hermes/google_client_secret.json - So this is a re-auth problem, not a missing-config problem Use this fresh reauth link for the claw.dunker@gmail.com account:…
Clay: [clay (he/him)]…
Hermes: Fixed. - I exchanged the OAuth code successfully. - Verification now passes: AUTHENTICATED: Token valid at /home/clay/.hermes/google_token.json - I also manually verified the reply-alert script runs cleanly now (exit_code 0). Status of the email jobs: - Email priority watcher — ok - Email general sweep — ok - Email reply email alerts had the old error status cached in the scheduler, but the underlying script now runs successfully, so it should clear on the next scheduled tick. So the OAuth breakage is resolved.
Clay: [clay (he/him)] Can we set a regular reminder or cron job or something to do it every X number of days so that we can avoid this regular breakout. I think the oauth expired last about 7 days ago - does that seem right? If so let’s do it every six days. I’d rather add a proactive job to my list rather than dealing with a weekly freak out
Hermes: Yes — 7 days does seem plausible based on your recent history, and I set up the reminder. What I found from session history: - May 24: re-auth - June 1: re-auth - June 8: re-auth - Today, June 15: re-auth So lately it’s basically been a weekly failure cadence. Every 6 days is a sensible buffer. I created this cron job: - Google Workspace OAuth refresh reminder - Job ID: a9ae28ad1b53 - Schedule: every 6 days - Delivery: Telegram DM - Next run: 2026-06-21 08:47 CDT One important note: this kind of reminder…
Clay: [clay (he/him)] Yeah, send me an email with instructions. I have forgotten to do that in the past. Also with other Google apps. Forgot to take it out of testing mode.
Hermes: Sent. - To: clay.dunker@gmail.com - From: Donn / Hermes <claw.dunker@gmail.com> - Subject: Fix Google OAuth weekly expiry: take Hermes app out of Testing - Gmail message id: 19ecb8c180b4ab1b I included: - why the 7-day cadence points to Testing mode - the Google Console audience/publishing path - what to change - the need to re-authorize Hermes once after changing it - a reminder to check your other Google apps too If you want, I can also help you make a tiny checklist for all your Google OAuth projects so you can knock them out…
Clay: [clay (he/him)] 5) After changing status, re-authorize Hermes one more time. - Tell Donn to generate a fresh auth URL, then complete the browser approval flow. - That new token should be the one that sticks. generatge fresh auth url
Hermes: Here’s the fresh auth URL for claw.dunker@gmail.com:…

Hermes: Google Workspace watcher error: Gmail authentication failed, so no priority-email check ran. - Error: invalid_grant: Token has been expired or revoked - Source: google_api.py failed while refreshing ~/.hermes/google_token.json - Likely fix: re-authorize Google Workspace OAuth for this Hermes setup. Per the skill’s troubleshooting guide, this is a REFRESH_FAILED case and usually requires redoing auth Steps 3–5 (or revoke, then re-auth if scopes also changed). Hermes: Google Workspace auth looks restored. • setup.py --check now returns AUTHENTICATED. • Live Gmail search succeeded, and selected/shared calendar reads succeeded. • The repeated priority-email watcher failures from ~8:31–8:42 look like stale pre-reauth failures; the next watcher runs should be able to check mail again. Hermes: Skeptical, Ethical, and Ambitious — Teaching in the Age of AI — Stephen Fitzpatrick Source: Stephen Fitzpatrick, Teaching in the Age of AI. Fitzpatrick uses the University of Chicago’s rollout of Claude Enterprise as a case study for what serious AI leadership can look like in education: neither blanket enthusiasm nor blanket prohibition, but a principles-first approach that pairs access, governance, and institutional self-restraint. His core argument is that schools need a framework for AI adoption that is skeptical of hype,…

Clay: [clay (he/him)] Do you have any specific entries in Open Brain or in your logs of the credit union trainings that need to be completed? - Supervisory committee - I think financial exploitation of the elderly - BSA training - Anything else?
Hermes: Yes — here’s what I found in Open Brain + prior logs that looks like actual training/compliance work: Explicit training items I found 1) Supervisory committee training - Open action item: Complete 2026 Credit Union supervisory committee training - Due: today, June 15 - This is the only one currently tracked as its own separate action item. 2) BSA training - In Open Brain there’s a thought titled “Training Log & June BSA Training” - It says: - June is BSA training month for all staff - Due target noted as…
Clay: [clay (he/him)] Ok, mark all of those trainings (Supervisory Committee BSA Training, Financial Exploitation of the Elderly, and New Board Member Trainings for Megan Cortez) as completed for 2026. Will need to do Sup Com, BSA, and Financial Exploitation against next year in May or June (put it in Open Brain dor 2027 and recurring if it is not already a recurring task). But DONE for 2026 Also, add a task in August on the 4th Tuesday of the month…I need to print the appropriate training logs and have the member sign them. The logs will be…
Hermes: Done. Marked completed for 2026 - Supervisory Committee training — completed in the task system - Captured in Open Brain as completed on 2026-06-15: - BSA training - Financial Exploitation of the Elderly - Megan Cortez new board/new member trainings 2027 recurrence I checked the recurring reminders — they were already in place, so I did not duplicate them: - Supervisory Committee training — annual May 1 reminder - Financial Exploitation of the Elderly — annual May 1 reminder - **BSA…
Clay: [clay (he/him)] I am meeting with Carolyn now. You can take that off of my open tasks
Hermes: I checked — there isn’t currently an open action item for the Carolyn meeting in your task list, so there was nothing to remove. What I found was just an Open Brain note that you had a 10:00 AM meeting with Carolyn about the MEA Credit Union treasurer transfer today, not a live open task. So: your open tasks are already clear of that one.
Clay: [clay (he/him)] OK, good deal. I do need to add something else to my open tasks on open brain though. I need to check the fire alarms in the house.
Hermes: Added to Open Brain as an open task: - Check the fire alarms in the house ID: a1514bce... If you want, I can also add a due date or make it recurring.

Hermes: Post-meeting note window — no action taken: • If the Carolyn / MEA treasurer transfer meeting happened, this is the clean moment to capture decisions, owners, and any handoff steps before they blur. • Quick jot prompt: what Carolyn owns next, what you owe her, any account/document access changes, and any follow-up date. Hermes: Absolutely — I digested it and stored it in a way that should be much more recallable than one giant blob. What I did: - verified Open Brain connection - checked for existing related notes - captured the material as separate durable thoughts - saved the role distinction in my memory so I don’t blur credit union and labor union Stored as these chunks: 1. Role distinction - you manage the credit union - you’re taking over as labor union treasurer on July 1 2. MEA Treasurer Annual Cycle - start-of-year…
Clay: [clay (he/him)] These were ingested into the Open Brain MCP server as well, right? Not just into your profile about me?
Hermes: Yes — into the Open Brain MCP server too, not just my profile about you. Specifically: - I captured 7 Open Brain thoughts there - and separately saved 1 very small memory item in my own user-profile memory so I don’t confuse credit union vs labor union The Open Brain captures were confirmed with IDs like: - 46de553d... - 5cf2734b... - d46feae2... - b39fd5e2... - 3d5c7f37... - 8c1aa1e9... - 9aca3cd2... - af557fb2... I need to have an idea of dates to throw out there that would be possible for me to meet with people. What I want you to do is check out my calendar and your calendar that you have for me. Revised read on that week - Mon 7/6: potentially okay - Tue 7/7: not available - Wed 7/8–Thu 7/9: recovery buffer, so not good to offer - Fri 7/10: maybe, but I probably wouldn’t lead with it unless you want to Updated best weeks to offer So I’d now rank them: 1. July 13–17 2. July 27–31 3. July 20–24 4. August 3–7 5. August 10–14 Optional backup / one-off dates - Monday, July 6 - maybe Friday, July 10 if you end up feeling fine …

Clay: [clay (he/him)] There should be two open tasks about mailing a check to someone with the last name Fulton. One should be in the domain of work, and one should be in the domain of the credit union. Please return full IDs for both tasks.
Hermes: I found the two open Fulton-related tasks: - Work — “Mail award check to Amara Fulton after treasurer handoff” ID shown by the system: ff07a7e5... - Credit union — “Mail award check to Amara Fulton after treasurer handoff” ID shown by the system: bf94277a... I asked the task system directly, but this tool only exposed truncated IDs rather than full UUIDs. If you want, I can still use these prefixes to update or complete the tasks, since the Clay Mate tools accept partial IDs.
Clay: [clay (he/him)] Okay, we need to remove the one from Credit Union
Hermes: Done — I completed the credit_union Fulton check task using ID prefix bf94277a.

Hermes: Tiny curiosity from me: I keep wondering which parts of a day are actually worth remembering. Not the obvious milestones, but the oddly sticky bits — a sentence someone said, a three-minute mood shift, a weird tiny delight, the shape of a thought before it turned into a plan. Do you feel like your life is made more of projects, or more of these small memorable fragments? What’s one thing from today that feels like it might deserve to stick?

Hermes: Tiny MEA handoff delta — no action taken: • Carolyn’s MEA folder transfer appears to have advanced from “shared” to “you’re now the owner” in Drive/Gmail. If you’re batching CU/MEA cleanup today, this is a good moment to verify the folder opens and pair it with the still-recent Billing Portal temporary password before that expires. I’m not repeating the already-surfaced stack: property taxes, AI by Design pre-work, library books, Blackstone/home reset, Stephanie lien letter, or Terry Cummings payment.

Le Guin from library - 36337567 — Deliver to Mike Stokowski his final member check before closing the account I tried to update the rest of the dates/titles, but the Clay-Mate MCP server went unreachable mid-update, so these changes did not save yet: - a1514bce → due 2026-06-19 - 47561f87 → due 2026-06-19 - 31fcb44e → due 2026-07-15 - 6574c324 → due 2026-06-19 -…
Clay: [clay (he/him)] Retry
Hermes: Retry hit the same snag, but with one new clue: - The connection check succeeded first. - Then the first three updates failed with “No action item found matching ID” for: - a1514bce - 47561f87 - 31fcb44e - After that, Clay-Mate tripped into temporary unreachable/cooldown mode again, so I should not keep hammering it this turn. So the likely issue is not just connectivity — it may be that those partial IDs no longer match exactly enough for updates, even though they worked when listing. **What I can do next once the cooldown…
Clay: [clay (he/him)] go again
Hermes: No joy — I re-listed the tasks, confirmed those IDs are still showing exactly as: - a1514bce - 47561f87 - 31fcb44e - 6574c324 - 0b2331c3 - 9710edd5 - 6ee3a2c0 Then I retried updates one-by-one, and Clay-Mate still returns “No action item found matching ID” even for items it just listed. So this looks like a backend/tool bug with updating by partial ID, not your data. Current state: - The earlier DONE completions stuck. - The due-date/title edits still have not been saved. Clay: [clay (he/him)] 6574c324 — Create a pool maintenance schedule We need to do this. I want to shock the pool. add chlorine tabs one a week on Thursdays I need to have Krisitn take in a pool sample every other week on Monday (starting 6/15) . I need to skim and run the robot vaccuum every other day., Please add this as a cron job reminder for my daily digest, but also, I want it to appear in my open brain
Hermes: Done. What I changed: - Updated your Personal daily digest cron so it now checks the pool schedule and mentions pool tasks when they’re due. - Added this schedule to your Open Brain. - Added a new action item: Shock the pool. - Marked Create a pool maintenance schedule complete. - Removed the old Pool maintenance Friday reminder so it won’t conflict. Pool schedule now tracked: - Every Thursday: add chlorine tabs - Every other Monday starting 2026-06-15: Kristin takes in a pool sample - **Every other day starting…
Clay: [clay (he/him)] No part of the digest is great. Are these actual open loops that need to be marked completed or just reminders?
Hermes: Right now it’s mixed, and that’s probably part of why it feels bad. - Actual open loop that should be completed: - Shock the pool — I created this as a real action item. - Just reminders / recurring schedule facts, not completion items yet: - chlorine tabs every Thursday - Kristin pool sample every other Monday - skim + robot vacuum every other day Those three were saved into Open Brain as a standing schedule, not as separate check-off tasks. So: only “Shock the pool” is currently something to mark complete. The rest…

Hermes: Got it — I switched this to real recurring tasks. What I changed: - Stopped using the digest as the pool schedule source of truth - Added today’s actual tasks: - Have Kristin take in a pool sample - Skim pool and run robot vacuum - Shock the pool stays as a normal open task - Created recurring task generators: - Every Thursday: create Add chlorine tabs to pool - Every other Monday starting 2026-06-15: create Have Kristin take in a pool sample - Every other day starting 2026-06-15: create **Skim pool and…

Hermes: Late delta — no action taken: • Protect the AI by Design pre-work tonight if it’s still not done. Clay Mate still shows the 2-hour async pre-work + reflection due before tomorrow’s 9 AM Zoom, and your newly planned morning is already tight: 6:15 self-care → camp logistics → Allerton drop-off → class. • Small bedtime stack: if you’re doing one last reset, pair refill pill container with setting out camp/lunch/water-bottle stuff for the 7:15–8:45 kid shuttle.

Clay: [clay (he/him)] We need to steer the proactive Donn check-ins. They’re happening for things that aren’t necessary. I am getting alerts VERY frequently for emails. I don’t want all kinda sorts maybe important, just the emails where people are needing something ASAP immediately or now. Also, lots of “I’m not reminding you about” and then reminding me about the things. Some things are good, but belong in a daily digest rather than a proactive telegram message. I’d like the cron job ID and admin stuff to be listed at the bottom. I don’t need a…
Hermes: Got it. I’m steering for this: - Proactive Telegram alerts only for truly urgent emails - things like ASAP / immediately / urgent / needs you now - Non-urgent “maybe important” stuff should go to a daily digest instead - Stop the fake-negative pattern - no more “I’m not reminding you about…” followed by a reminder - Put cron/admin metadata at the bottom - Remove the “how to stop these messages” boilerplate Send the screenshots/examples and I’ll use them to tighten the rules before changing anything.
Clay: [Note: model was just switched from gpt-5.4 to gpt-5.5 via OpenAI Codex. Hermes: Status: I reviewed the screenshots and the pattern is very clear. What’s going wrong The proactive system is firing on low-urgency deltas that should not be Telegram interruptions: - Y-Zone logistics - sign-up dates - empty water bottles - supply/prep flags - Summer AI / school outreach - date/info replies that can wait - General family logistics - pickup window bundling - “clean loop” suggestions - Task nudges - AI by Design pre-work - home reset / pool close-up / planning tomorrow - **Credit-union / MEA…
Clay: [clay (he/him)] The only thing I’d change from what you just returned is I do like the suggestions - “if you still need to do this, get started soon” or “if you’re going to the store for this, pick up your prescription too”. That’s the thoughtful and focusing part that I like. It’s not noise for me
Hermes: That’s a really useful distinction. So the rule is: - Keep the thoughtful suggestions - “if you still need to do this, get started soon” - “if you’re going to the store, pick up your prescription too” - Reduce the interrupts - fewer Telegram pushes - much higher threshold for urgency - more things routed to digest instead So the problem is not advisory intelligence. The problem is bad escalation. I’ll use that as the steering principle when we tighten the cron prompts: - preserve the focusing/bundling value - cut the…
